The World Indoor Rowing Championships came to Toronto this year and took place this past weekend. Athletes from around the globe gathered in Toronto to compete over a distance of 2000m on the ergometers- the indoor rowing machines you see in the back of our gym. A number of rowers from our school competed in this event representing Canada as the host country and two athletes walked away with silver medals at this World Championship event. Malarie Jones in the 17-18 year old category and Emma G. in the Under 17 category earned these hard fought silver medals by completing the second fastest time in the world for their respective ages, and subsequently the fastest time in the country. They were joined by other top ten finishes by Sarah S. (6th), Preston D. (9th) and Alessio P. (10th). Even though they represented Canada, they proudly wore their E.L. Crossley unisuits on this world class stage. All Crossley rowers performed with pride and perseverance, Way to go blue and gold- you have done us proud!  No rest for the proud however- see y’all at practice tonight as we prepare for the upcoming Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships this Saturday.
