TODAY'S NEWS

DAY OF SIGNIFICANCE:
Africa Day: Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on 25 May 1963

International Missing Children’s Day: To remember missing children and spread the word about child abduction. 

Ascension Day: This day commemorates the ascension of Jesus into Heaven. 

Rankin Run: We will be participating in a Rankin Walk in support of cancer-care during Period 1 on Cyclone Day. Please ask your families to donate through the link on our website. They will register as a team member and type in E.L Crossley to find our team. 

School Nurse Dana is away, but School Nurse Ashley can help you out! She will be here at Crossley today Thursday May 25th and June 1st for any in person appointments. The nurse office is located at the back of the student services area. Feel free to walk in or text to make an appointment - 289-241-1892, or live chat with a school nurse

E.L. Crossley is offering extra homework and assignment help Tuesday and Thursdays. Mr. Yando and Mr. Leone will be working with students in the library afterschool today until 4 pm. This is a great opportunity to get additional support in any of your courses. Everyone is welcome!

Hey Grads - have you voted for Valedictorian?  You have until Friday to vote! Please refer to the Grade 12 Only D2L for instructions and the voting form.  

Attention to all graduates who plan to graduate with the SHSM seal.  A number of you still have to complete the Enriched Academy program.  Please send through a screen capture when you have completed such to Ms Cripps so she can update your accounts. Diplomas can not be generated until all SHSM requirements have been entered into the system.  Please see Mr. Marquis or Ms Cripps if you have any questions.

Do you need volunteer hours?  Many of our elementary schools are having family funfests and are in need of volunteers.  Please log in to D2L - Student Services to see dates, times and who to contact if you would like to volunteer.

Ms Cripps is in need of volunteers to help take pictures of old yearbook photos for our 60th Anniversary reunion. If you are in need of volunteer hours and would like to see what Crossley looked like over the years, please see or email Ms Cripps immediately.

CLUBS

Crossley for Christ is meeting tomorrow at lunch (not today). New comers are always welcome. Lets enjoy some great time in community and make some new friends. Meet in room 214.

Hey Crossley! Student council is making final preparations for Cyclone Day! On Monday June 5th our school will be going to Queenston Heights to have a day of fun in the sun. Enjoy a free pizza lunch, colour wars games and a school wide game of capture the flag. This year you will have the option of making your own team of people in your grade with whom to compete during the morning activities. To sign up your team (of up to 10 people) please see a student council member at lunch in the foyer today! If you have not yet brought in your permission forms for cyclone day please bring those to your period 1 teacher - students on spare during period 1 are asked to bring their forms to Ms. Kropac in room 308. 

Are you interested in planning school wide events like Semi formal and Cyclone day? Do you have great ideas for spirit weeks and want to gain leadership skills? Then student council is the place for you! Please see Mrs. Varga or Ms. Ranieri in room 113 or 308 to pick up nomination forms. Completed forms are due to Mrs. Varga in room 113 before 2:15 on Tuesday May 30th. 

SPORTS  

Yesterday, the girls soccer team played their last regular season game.  It was a tough loss. Grace K. scored two goals assisted by Leah W. and some great saves by Ava T.  The team plays Tuesday at 3 in the Zone championships at Centennial.  Come out and support the team!
