CLUBS

Wednesday September 27 is Rowans Law Day - its a day to honour Rowan Stringer's memory and raise awareness about concussion safety. On this day we wear purple. Thursday September 28 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - on this day we wear orange. Today at lunch - both purple and orange Crossley shirts are available for purchase for $5 cash at the Spirit Store open across from the main office. 

We have a new Business Leadership DECA club for grade 11 and 12 students. For more information, please join us on Wednesday at lunch in Mr. Middleton’s room 209.

Reminder to all Chess Club members that we will be meeting in the library today during lunch.  Bring a friend, your lunch, and your A-game!  New members are always welcome!

Are you interested in musical theatre and Broadway?  If so - would you be interested in meeting up with similar enthusiasts once a week at lunch to listen to cast albums and discuss the events of past, current and future theatre productions?  If you are interested in bringing a bit of Broadway to your lunch break, please connect with Ms. Bosgraaf by email or in room 207 during period 3 and 4.  

Have you heard of the Specialist High Skills Major aka SHSM? This is an amazing opportunity for grade 11 and 12s where you can enroll and earn certifications in First Aid/CPR or working at heights training for Free! Plus focus on a career path that matches your skills and interests. If you are interested please stop by and see Mr. Marquis in Room 309 for more information.

Attention grade 11 and 12 students! There is a trip planned to tour BOTH campuses for Niagara College. That’s right. We will leave ELC at 9am and tour both the Welland and Niagara On The Lake campuses, returning to Crossley by 2pm. If you are interested in this trip please speak with Mrs. Varga, Mr. Petro, Ms. Kropac or Mrs. Hutchinson. Permission forms are available from Mrs. Varga in room 113 and MUST BE RETURNED BY TOMORROW. The cost of the trip is $15 and can be paid through school cash online.

Crossley for Christ is meeting this Thursday at lunch in room 402. All are welcome.

It’s DODGEBALL day!!! Gr.9s and link crew leaders - games start today at lunch. The bracket is posted on the white board in the gym foyer! Today we will have Team 1: Shake It Off vs. Team 2: Anti-Hero and Team 3: Fearless vs. Team 6: I knew you were trouble. Don’t forget the rules - dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Please see Mr. Petro in room 406 if you have any questions. 

Crossley Q and A will be meeting today in room 303. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies are always welcome. 

Beachwood, I said Beechwood! Beechwood Donuts are coming! Yes they are coming on Thursday September 28th, at lunch. The Sr. Girls Basketball team will be selling Beechwood Donuts in the front foyer during lunch don’t miss out!


SPORTS

Still looking for 2 senior girls to join our Cross Country team to make it complete. Our 1st race is not until October 12th. It is not too late. Anyone is welcome. Meet after school in the gym foyer.

Reminder to the Jr Girls Basketball team of their practice Wednesday after school in Gym C. Please see Mr. Marquis if you have any questions about our tournament this week. 

A huge congratulations to the Boys Golf Team who won the Zone 3 Championship yesterday with great rounds from all team members.  Blake Furtney led the way with a 77 in windy conditions at Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club which tied him for low round of the day.  Ben Julie, Brennan Turner, Jonah Shapland and Kelton Pitts all contributed to beat the 2nd place team by 28 shots!  Wish them luck as they travel to Sawmill Golf Course on Monday in an attempt to qualify for OFSAA.  All team members are asked to attend a brief meeting today in room 112 at lunch.  If you cannot make this meeting you must speak to Mr. Smith or Mr. MacDonald today.
