On Thursday afternoon, the Sr. Boys Basketball team traveled to Westlane Secondary School to compete in the Zone 3 Final. Playing in front of a packed Westlane gym, the boys quickly fell behind 21-2 to start the game. Despite the slow start, the boys showed their heart and determination, battling back to cut the lead to single digits entering the fourth quarter. After trailing the entire game, the boys took the lead with only a few minutes to play. After a few lead changes down the stretch, the boys sealed the victory, capped off by a huge 3-pointer and 2 free throws. With the win, the boys captured the Zone 3 championship and advanced to SOSSA on Friday at Governor Simcoe.

This is promising to be a big week for ELC Athletics!  The JR Girls Volleyball team are kicking things off today after school as they are hosting Centennial in the NHRSAA Semi-finals.  The JR Boys basketball team will travel to AN Myer on Wednesday for their NHRSAA Finals and the SR Girls Volleyball and SR Boys Basketball will compete for a chance at OFSAA when they travel to St Catharines on Friday for their respective SOSSA competitions.  In addition, 3 students, have qualified for SOSSA Wrestling on Thursday and a chance for a return to OFSAA to defend their medals from last year.  Our rowers are also competing this Saturday in the National Erg Championships at Ridley College.  Next week we are also looking forward to big results from our Swim team who are competing at OFSAA in Toronto.  A total of 8 swimmers qualified through SOSSA for the big event.  Good luck to all our teams, we are very proud of your hard work and accomplishments!
