Yesterday, the varsity boys baseball team competed in the zone playoffs. The boys started off their day by defeating Westlane in the quarterfinals to book a spot in the semi-finals against baseball powerhouse AN Myer. The boys played in what the league convener deemed “a game for the decades''. Jayden T. pitched three standout innings, gathering much praise from the Myer coaches. The Crossley defence was up for the challenge, highlighted by fantastic catches by Brett K. and Jason S. After falling behind a couple runs after the 3rd inning, the boys showed their relentless determination, with Josh A. and Rowan T. tacking on runs in the 4th and 5th to square up the game at 2’s. Lucas G. was perfect through 3 innings, striking out 4. Entering the 7th and final inning tied at 2, the boys stranded a baserunner sending it to the bottom of the 7th. With 2 outs, and a runner on third, Myer scored on a walk-off passed ball to end the game. Mr. Petro and Mr. Harris would like to thank the team for an outstanding season and are excited for the future of Crossley baseball!
