SPORTS
ELC Athletics would like to welcome all students back from a great summer break. Welcome to all our grade 9's and new students. We invite you to check out all the athletic activities that we offer here at EL Crossley.
We also have opportunities for you to complete your community hours by being an official for any of our teams. We are currently looking for basketball, volleyball and hockey score keepers. Contact Mr. Blanchard / Ms. Amadio or an Athletic Council Rep if you are interested. We will start training potential scorekeepers this week. There will be an Athletic Council meeting Wednesday in the gym at the beginning of lunch. New members are welcome.
It is important to listen to the announcements closely in the next few days for try-out dates or come by the gym for practice schedules posted on the athletic board under the tv in the gym foyer. XCountry and Girls Basketball will start Wednesday, Boys Volleyball will start Thursday. Please make sure you have completed the “Permission to Participate in Extra-Curricular Activities Form” prior to the first practice.
If you are new to the school, excluding grade 9's, and wish to play inter-school sports, you must complete the required transfer forms before participating. These must be completed before Thursday so your eligibility can be reviewed at the NHRSAA meeting on Tuesday. See Mrs. Amadio or Mr. Blanchard during lunch or immediately after school in the gym offices for forms and explanations.
If you would like to use one of the gym lockers, instructions and fees will be posted on the athletic board at the gym doors and Athletic Council will be collecting forms during lunch Thursday and Friday in the gym foyer. Grade 12 and 11 will have priority until Friday morning followed by the grade 10's and 9's on Friday afternoon (lunch hour).
Cross-Country Running: Come one and all after school Wednesday and every school day until early November to train your endurance, work your heart and lungs, meet new people from all grades and be active. You may even earn a trip to the provincial championship in as little as 60 days. Daily exercise is one way to maintain good physical and mental health. Bring a friend and your running gear and meet in the gym foyer. We start at 2:25 and end by 3:45 at the latest. Need more information? Please get in touch with Mr. Edwards.
