SPORTS

On Friday night, the Sr. Boys Basketball team competed in the semi final of the 66th annual Welland Tribune Basketball Tournament. Facing an extremely talented Sir Winston Churchill team, the boys did not back down coming out of the gate with unmatched intensity on the offensive and defensive sides of the floor. The boys led 15-14 after the first quarter and continued to add on their lead in the second, taking a 31-27 lead into the half. After battling through a bulldog attack to start the third, your cyclones fought hard to hold onto a 43-42 lead heading to the final quarter. In the fourth, the boys ran out of steam, dropping the game 63-47. Coach Petro and Coach Bleich would like to applaud the boys for their outstanding sportsmanship and play throughout the tournament. The boys are back in action Tuesday, after school against GFESS.

On Friday the Varsity Boy’s Hockey team traveled to St. Catharines to take on Laura Secord.  They put up a dominating performance getting the lead early in the first period and never looked back.  The entire team displayed sportsmanship throughout the entire game.  Their next game is Wednesday against Westlane in Niagara Falls.  The team is reminded to check their emails.

A reminder to the Intramural Hockey League that the Blue team takes on the Yellow team today and the Grey Team plays the Orange team on Thursday.  This is our last week of games, before the exam break.

We are looking to see how many girls are interested in playing slow pitch this spring, there is a sign up list posted on Mr. Belding’s room 103 door.
