International Women’s Day-According to one source, a women's march in New York in 1857 provided the inspiration for the day. Others claim that it began as a commemoration of a strike by women needle trades workers in New York City in 1908. International Women's Day was revived in the 1960s and in 1975 the U.N. began sponsoring this day.

The winners for Landmark Trivia are as follows! - In first place with a score of 9/10 and representing the grade 10’s was Mrs. Bhan’s class
For second place we had a three way tie - each with a score of 8/10. Representing the grade 9’s was MR. Bhan and Mr. Lafferty’s classes and representing the grade 12’s was Ms. Disanto’s class.
And today is Colour wars! To win points for your grade students need to be wearing the following colours - grade 9 - red, grade 10- yellow, grade 11 - green and grade 12 - blue. Could period 1 teachers please count and record the number of students wearing their grade colour in the google form posted to staff this morning. Today during period 2 we will be hosting a fun classroom competition! Each class will be asked to send ONE winner down to the cafeteria at the END of period 2 so that we can run the finale to the game - more details for staff can be found in the email sent yesterday.

Students interested in being part of this year's Competitive Mock Trial Team Competition that takes place at the Courthouse in May are invited to attend our first meeting today after school until 4PM. The meeting will take place in Mrs Barber’s room - room 204.
There will be a meeting of the prom committee today at lunch in room 318.
SPORTS
Track & Field sign ups in the gym foyer. Track & Field practices start March 20th, indoors till 4pm. All information will be given out on that day.
Sign up for boys soccer teams and an information letter can be picked up at the same time outside room 304 at lunch Thursday and Friday
Wednesday Badminton is canceled tonight due to the incoming trades fair.
A reminder to the intramural hockey league that the final game of the year is tomorrow between the yellow team and the blue team. All players are reminded to hand in their jerseys.
Yesterday the varsity boys hockey team took on St. Jean de Brebeuf in the semi-finals as they looked to avenge their only regular season loss. A few unlucky bounces put the team behind 2-0 after the first period, but they wouldn’t let that slow them down. They kept up the pressure and with 5 goals from the captain Riley R., and 2 goals from Josh D., they sealed a 7-5 victory. The team will face Centennial in the finals after March Break.
All girls interested in playing soccer this year, please sign up outside of rm 306. Tryouts will start after March Break. Please see Ms. Di Santo in 306 if you have any questions.

A reminder to all Crossley experienced and novice rowers and newcomers that there is a mandatory swim test tonight from 7.30-8.30pm at the Kiwanis Pool in St. Catharines. It is a mandatory DSBN requirement. If you have Bronze Medallion or Cross you are exempt but you must bring in a hard copy to Coach Ruscitti. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE WATER FOR ROWING UNLESS YOU COMPLETE THE SWIM ASSESSMENT. NO EXCEPTIONS. LAST YEAR'S TEST DOES NOT COUNT FOR THIS YEAR.THE LANES AT THE POOL HAVE BEEN RENTED FOR THIS EVENING ONLY, BE SURE TO BE IN ATTENDANCE. IF THERE ARE ANY EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES PLEASE LET COACH RUSCITTI KNOW ASAP (TODAY).
