Days of Significance

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination-The day aims to remind people of racial discrimination’s negative consequences. It also encourages people to remember their obligation and determination to combat racial discrimination.

World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21st, beginning in 2006. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Every year on March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about down syndrome.

TODAY'S NEWS

All grade 12 graduating students are asked to check the Grade 12 D2L page and complete the Google Form that will be used by the E.L. Crossley scholarship committee to determine eligibility for awards.  You must complete the form to be considered for awards.

Graduating students who plan on attending Brock University are reminded to apply for the Niagara Principal’s Scholarship.  Application process is available online.    

Attention grade 10 and 11 science students! Brock University is holding their annual “Scientifically Yours” program - an opportunity for students to stay in residence for one night and participate in 6 really cool science labs throughout a two day stay! For more information on this amazing program please see Mrs. Varga in room 113.

Looking for a summer job? The City of Welland is hiring. Come to the front office or student services to pick up a brochure or visit their website, welland.ca to apply.

Today during Period 4 our Grade 9 Geography Recycling Team will be coming to your classrooms to pick up your recycling bins.  Please ensure that your ‘blue’ and ‘grey’ bins have been properly sorted, and that your bins are placed outside your classroom or office doors after period 3 today.  Thank you!

Crossley for Christ is meeting today in room 402. Come and enjoy some time in community and bring your lunch. Enjoy a short devotional. All are welcome.

Homework Help is back! Come visit Mr. Yando and Ms. Barnes in the library after school today from 2:30 to 4pm.

Competitive Mock Trial team members are reminded of today’s meeting, after school in Mrs Barber’s room - room 204 - until 4pm.

Reminder: Broadway Culture Club will meet tomorrow at lunch to resume our viewing of In the Heights.  Can’t wait!

SPORTS 

Remember to sign up for Track and Field. Practices start on Monday. You need running shoes and a change of clothes. A certain number of practices are mandatory before our first meet. Practices are everyday from 2:20-4pm.

Attention all girls interested in playing softball this year!  Please sign up on the sheet located outside the main gym.  Practices will begin when the weather is appropriate, and will be communicated through the morning announcements.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Smith or Mr. Belding.

Attention Junior and Senior boys soccer players. Just a reminder that tryouts for this week have been cancelled and moved to next when we will hopefully see some better weather.
