Days of Significance:

Happy Music Monday! Today marks the celebration of the study of music in our schools nationwide. Several events will be happening around Canada to draw attention to the importance and inclusion of music education.

Mental Health Week (May 6-10)-Mental Health Week is a Canadian tradition, with communities, schools and workplaces rallying to celebrate, protect and promote mental health. Today is the start of Mental Health Week! All week long, we’ll be talking about our minds, how we can keep them healthy, and where to go to REACH OUT FOR HELP when we are struggling. This is a time to raise awareness and encourage conversations about mental health.

Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)-Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates the death of 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime. (Judaism)

TODAY’S NEWS

Are you in grade 11 or 12 and are interested in working with your hands? We have 2 amazing opportunities where you can build a house from the ground up or become an expert in green industries!  Make an appointment with Guidance to register for these unique co-op opportunities called The Homebuild and Dig-it.

Attention to all students who still need community service hours- grade 12s still in need of hours, you too need to listen up!  There are two great opportunities for you to earn a large number of community service hours. One is with the Pelham Art festival that runs this Mother’s day weekend, and the other is for Festival theatre, which runs the following weekend.  Check out the posting in the D2L- Student Services class for more information.  Just remember, you working for free does NOT necessarily mean the hours will count towards the 40 needed to graduate.  When in doubt, please check with Student Services.
