ELC ATHLETICS FIRST DAY ANNOUNCEMENT

ELC Athletics would like to welcome all students back from a great summer break.  Welcome to all our grade 9's and new students.  We invite you to consider all the athletic activities that we offer here at EL Crossley. Please check out the Athletics Board in the Gym foyer and follow our ELC Athletics Instagram account for updated information.

We also have opportunities for you to complete your community hours by being an official for any of our teams.  We are currently looking for basketball, volleyball and hockey score keepers. Contact Mr. Blanchard / Ms. Amadio or an Athletic Council Rep if you are interested. We will start training potential scorekeepers next week. There will be an Athletic Council meeting Wednesday in the gym at the beginning of lunch.  New members are welcome.

It is important to listen to the announcements closely in the next few days for try-out dates or come by the gym for practice schedules posted on the athletic board under the TV in the gym foyer.  X-Country and Girls Basketball will start Wednesday, Boys Volleyball will start Thursday.  Please make sure you have completed the “Permission to Participate in Extra-Curricular Activities Form” on School Cash Online prior to the first practice.

If you are new to the school, excluding grade 9's, and wish to play inter-school sports, you must complete the required transfer forms before participating.  These must be completed before Thursday so your eligibility can be reviewed at the NHRSAA meeting on Tuesday.  See Mrs. Amadio or Mr. Blanchard during lunch or immediately after school in the gym offices for forms and explanations.

If you would like to use one of the gym lockers, instructions and fees will be posted on the athletic board at the gym doors and Athletic Council will be collecting forms during lunch Thursday and Friday in the gym foyer.  Grade 12 and 11 will have priority until Friday morning followed by the grade 10's and 9's on Friday afternoon (lunch hour).

Calling all Sr. Girls Basketball players! There will be a meeting in room 103 at the beginning of lunch to discuss our Tryout schedule. Please do not be late. If you have any questions, you can see Mr. Belding.

Attention any grade 9 and 10 girls interested in trying out for the jr girls basketball team to please attend our tryouts this Wednesday and Friday. Please see Mr. Marquis if you have any questions or cannot make it.

It’s time for rock n’ row. Crossley has one of the largest and most competitive rowing teams in the country, and many of you new to Crossley have likely not had the chance to try this classic Canadiana sport. Well, you are in the right place at the right time. Whether in grade 9 or a different grade, you are encouraged to try this unique water sport. Rowing in the Fall is run through the local rowing club on the Welland canal, and most of the coaches are your very own Crossley coaches. There is a Learn to Row program for newcomers that begins with an open house this Saturday, Sept. 7th at the Notre Dame rowing club. If you have questions or need more info, please see Mr. Ruscitti in Room 206. More info will be coming to you in the days ahead so stay tuned and listen to the announcements. Go blue and gold!
