Days of Significance:

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day-The message behind this day is Every Child Matters and is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to honour survivors, families and communities. To take the opportunity to talk, teach and learn about residential schools to ensure that the history and legacy remains a vital component of the reconciliation process. (National)

TODAY’S NEWS

Attention to all students who are interested in joining the Ski/Snowboard club this year.  There is a mandatory meeting in the lecture hall immediately at 10:50am on Wednesday, October 2nd. You must plan to attend and be on time if you hope to earn a spot on the ski/snowboard club. 

Any students who are thinking that they would like to study outside of Canada after they graduate are encouraged to attend the International Career Fair at Ridley College in St. Catharine’s. Details are posted in the Student Services D2L page. Please obtain a parking map from student services if you plan to attend.

Any Grade 12 students who are interested in attending the Regional University Fair at Brock on the morning of Monday, October 7th, please pick up a permission form in Guidance.  They are due back by October 4th. 

Dodgeballers - Today’s games: 10 v 6 @ 10:55am, 7 v 5  @ 11:05, Team 1 v 2 @ 11:15. Don’t be late! Remember to check the white board by the Big gym for team lists.

The treats are coming, the Honey Glazed, Chocolate Dip, Cookie Dough, French Toast, Cookies’ n Cream, Chocolate Brownie, Coconut Cream, and Pumpkin Pie will all be here Tuesday. Don’t forget that Beechwood donuts will be available in the front foyer at lunch. Cash Only! They'll be gone before you know it!!

CLUBS

We have a new club that has started at EL Crossley, it is the Multicultural Club! Where we bring students together in a friendly, celebratory and educative manner. We are about intercultural communication and creating a stronger EL Crossley community. We meet every Monday in room 401. See Mr. Marquis, Ms. White or Mr. Morgan for more information. 

Film fans, there will be a super quick Oddity Film Society meeting at lunch today. If you’re interested in our film club, drop by room 305 anytime during lunch today. 

Attention cyclones! The Interact Club is excited to announce our  "Stock-Tober" Food Drive. From Tuesday October 1st till Friday October 11th, we are collecting non-perishable food items to support Pelham Cares. This includes items like beans, baby food, pasta, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, oats and more. This is your chance to make a real difference in the community. The drop-off boxes for food items will be located in your period one classrooms. Help us stock the shelves and provide food for families in need just in time for Thanksgiving! Thank you for your support! Let’s do it Crossley! 

ARTS

Attention Crossley Vocalists - There is no Vocal rehearsal today but there will be an important meeting Tuesday at the beginning of lunch!

Attention all students! Mr. Dickinson is excited to announce open auditions for our upcoming Spring theatre production, featuring scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most iconic plays. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just curious to try out, we welcome everyone to take the stage and help write a new theatre piece. Auditions will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd, from 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM in the drama room. Please sign up outside the drama room to secure your audition slot. No experience necessary—just passion and enthusiasm. Break a leg! 🍀✨

Mr Dickinson will be hosting a short information session in the drama today at lunch for anyone interested who might have questions. See you there!

SPORTS

Congratulations to our very own Senior Boys Volleyball team for finishing 6th out of 20 teams at the Brock University tournament.  The boys finished at the top of their pool at the end of Day 1.  Day 2 brought us some tough competition from some very competitive teams.  It was a great 2 days of volleyball and we can’t wait for more!!!   Special shout out to Ian M. for winning one of only 6 tournament MVP awards. Catch the team tonight at home against Port Colborne High.   Let’s go Crossley!


There will be a Sr. Girls Basketball team meeting in room 103 at the beginning of lunch today.
