TODAY’S NEWS

CLUBS

Hey E.L Crossley students and staff! Did you know that our school has a Black Student Association? If not, well now you do! We meet every Wednesday at lunch in room 306. Our BSA club is hosting a movie night on Wednesday February 5 to celebrate Black History Month. We will be watching Black Panther right after school. Head to School Cash Online to get all the details and sign up for free. Spots are limited so make sure to sign up soon.

Semi formal ticket sales have now closed.  In preparation for our semi, we will be having table sign-ups throughout this week, starting today at lunch in the main foyer. Talk with your friends and make groups of between 2 and 10 people that you want to sit with at semi. Please send ONE person from your group to the student council members in the foyer. If you have a group bigger than 10, don’t worry. Make multiple tables and you can request to have tables near each other. If you have less than 10, that is okay too! If there are not 10 people at your table or you don’t have a group, we will match you up with others from your grade!

SPORTS

A power weekend for  the Crossley Rowing team.  First and foremost a huge shout out to the many hands  that went into making the annual Pasta Dinner/Silent auction night a resounding success. Ms.Yallup worked her usual coordinator magic along with countless parents, athletes, alumni, volunteers and community donors. Mr. Robertson and the A Team of cook extraordinaires (Awesome Alyssa and Champion Cook Carolyn) produced a primo pasta meal that put many smiles on many faces. The event was well attended and has helped bring in important dollars to fund the rowing equipment that Crossley rowers champion on a daily basis. Heartfelt THANK YOU to the amazing and generous Crossley community!

The kitchens of Crossley weren't the only place where the heat was turned up on the weekend. Our wonderful novice rowers strolled into Denis Morris Secondary School for the Novice Sprints indoor ergometer competition and stormed away with some well earned medals. The athletes showed up and ALL novices put in a gritty and determined effort. There was numerous top  10 finishes and the following won medals:

Gold- 4 students

Silver- 2 students

Bronze- 3 students

We are  all very proud of you and the classy way you represented ELC.

Practices continue as usual on Tuesday and Thursdays after school and any other day you wish and can make it out. Go blue and gold!
