DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE
Ramadan (March 1-29)-This is the holiest month in the Islamic Year and begins at the sighting of the new moon. It commemorates the period during which Prophet Mohammad received divine revelations of the Holy Scripture (Quran). Observing Muslims fast between the hours of sunrise and sunset during the entire month, read the Qu'ran and worship in the mosque or at home. The dates may vary from year to year as it is based on the lunar calendar. This calendar follows the North American calculation. (Islam)
Ala (March 1-19)-Ala' is the nineteenth and final month of the Baha'i year, and the time of the 19-day fast, in preparation for Naw-Ruz. Those who are healthy and of age abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. (Baha'i)

SPORTS
Congratulations to the blue and gold rowers who raced on Saturday at the Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships. Crossley rowers earned 3 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals at the event for a total of 10 medals. All rowers raced with fire in their belly and many achieved a personal best. Kudos to all of the novices who raced their first 2000 meters in a big field. They showed up, they fought, they cheered and they all represented themselves and Crossley in a classy way. Well done.
Regular practices continue as the team works towards the water season. It is important to stay the course. Medals are won in the winter and handed out in the spring. QUOTA continues for experienced rowers and the 3 times per week minimum for novices. See you at practice Go blue and gold!

A reminder to the Intramural Hockey League that the final games are this week. The Orange team takes on the Blue team today in the Championship Finals, while the Yellow team faces the Green team in the Consolation Finals on Thursday.
