TODAY’S NEWS

We are continuing with spirit week by dressing like a teacher. Could period one teachers please count and record the number of students by grade who are dressed like a teacher. Staff can find the email sent this morning for recording of numbers. Today during period 3 there will be a classroom competition - stay posted for instructions at the beginning of period 3 and teachers are reminded that you will need materials from your mailbox for this activity. Any students on spare during period 3 are welcome to go to the resource room to participate in the activity. And a reminder that tomorrow is colour wars day - grade 9’s wear red, grade 10’s yellow, grade 11’s green and grade 12’s blue! 

Graduating students who have applied to Brock university are reminded that the deadline to apply for the Brock Niagara’s Principal award is April 1st.  Don’t forget that 2 qualified students from our school will win $2500 each!!!

Grade 12 students who have applied to college for a skilled trades program are asked to go immediately to Guidance to see Ms. Gibson for a huge scholarship opportunity - $20, 000 - $40, 000 award!!!

DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

Feast of the Annunciation-A Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus. (Christianity - East Orthodox and Western)

International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Slavery-This day offers the opportunity to honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the brutal slavery system. It also aims to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today. (United Nations)

ARTS

Attention Crossley! Tickets for this year’s production of Shakespeare on the Hill are now available. Tickets are available for the evenings of April 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Please see or email Mr. Dickinson or Mr. Yando for ticket purchases. Don’t ask yourself if you are going “To be or not to be” coming to the show, get your tickets now!

Attention StarFest members!  There is a brief but extremely important meeting at lunch in the Drama room at the start of lunch.  See you there!

CLUBS

Q and A meets today and every Tuesday in room 305. Members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies are always welcome.

Are you a grade 11 student who has taken science and is interested in attending post secondary school? Then this opportunity is for you! Brock University is hosting their annual Scientifically Yours program. You will have the chance to stay in residence for a night, eat meals in a university meal hall and participate in 6 different science and math labs. For more information please speak with any grade 11 science teacher!

Attention all Chess players! Our next tournament is fast approaching. We will meet in Ms White’s room TOMORROW at lunch for more information about the tournament. See you then!

Don’t Forget!!  Interact is still collecting donations for the pop-up thrift store that will open next week. Look through your closets for anything you can donate, and drop them off in the donation bin in the lobby. We will take any shirts, pants, jackets, dresses, and even accessories to help fill Crossley’s Closet!

SPORTS

Attention all students interested in trying out for the Varsity Baseball Team, there will be a MANDATORY meeting in room 406, today at lunch. All athletes MUST be present. If you cannot make it, please see Mr. Petro in room 406.

Reminder to all Lacrosse players of our practices this week Tue and Thur after school on the field, dress appropriately, buckets and gloves for practice this week only.

Novice Rowers are reminded that the regular practice schedule continues with Tuesday and Thursday after school. Thursday is a fun total team practice and Saturday will be an all team practice at the school with novices doing the 4k or 6k erg challenge, and experienced rowers doing the 6k. A busy week helping to prepare us for the upcoming spring on water rowing and racing season.  Keep up the good work- golden skies and blue water are on the way. What was that you said- blue and gold- you got that right, go blue and gold!

The rowing team is still in need of some good leaders and race car drivers to compete as coxswains for the spring season. What is involved?- see Mr. Ruscitti in Room 206 or ask any fellow rower. Coxswains rule!

Track and Field athletes are reminded of practice today after school in the small gym.  Even if you haven’t signed up yet you are still welcome to come out.
