DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

Today is Music Monday! This is the day that our province recognizes the importance of Music Education in our schools!

Occupational Health and Safety Week (May 4-10)-Safety and Health Week is an ideal time for employers, employees, partners, and the public to focus on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community

Mental Health Week (May 5-11)-Mental Health Week is a Canadian tradition, with communities, schools and workplaces rallying to celebrate, protect and promote mental health. (Canada)

African World Heritage Day-African World Heritage Day is an opportunity for people around the world, and particularly Africans, to celebrate the Continent's unique cultural and natural heritage.

Today is National day of remembrance and awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People across Canada, also known as Red Dress Day. You may have noticed red dresses hanging around the school put up by period 1 NDW class. These dresses are a powerful visual representation of the thousands of Indigenous women and girls who have gone missing or been victims of violence. Each dress serves as a silent but striking reminder of lives lost and the ongoing need for justice, awareness, and reconciliation. We encourage everyone to take a moment today to reflect on the significance of these red dresses and to learn more about the impact on Indigenous communities. Let’s continue to stand together in raising awareness.

SPORTS

The Jr. Boys Soccer team was in superb goal-scoring form against A.N. Myer at home on Friday. The boys won the game by 10 goals - 2. Adam F. and Dexter H. both recorded hat tricks. The boys will go in search of more goals when they play Sir Winston at 3:00 PM today at home.

This weekend Crossley rowers started their season across the border, racing in the John Bennett Regatta in Buffalo, New York.  The team ended the day bringing home 4 Bronze, 8 Silver and 10 Gold Medals.  In an amazing show of athleticism, every athlete on the team won a medal. A testament to the hard work done on and off the water.  Way to go Crossley Crew!  Go blue and gold!

A reminder to all track and field athletes of our meet on Wednesday.  Check the schedule in the gym foyer to know when your events are.  There is also one week left to get your practices in before Zone.  Make sure you’re coming out after school.
