DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases-This day recognizes a host of diseases that include Fibromyalgia (FM), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Gulf War Syndrome. The importance of bringing awareness to these complex chronic diseases is that they're often misunderstood. They are considered invisible diseases where there may not be any visible characteristics and people who live with these conditions can appear physically healthy but are leading debilitating lives.

International Nurses Day-This is a day to pay tribute to the outstanding contributions of nurses to the communities, patients, and health systems they serve, as well as their impact on global health outcomes.

Vesak Day (Buddah Day)-A Buddhist holiday that commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Final Nirvana of the Buddhab. This is the most important day for Theravada Buddhists. (Buddhism)

TODAY’S NEWS

Today is our pep rally day!!! To celebrate, Students Council is going to collect colour wars points for students who are wearing blue and/or gold! Could period 1 teachers please go to the email sent out this morning to count and record the students by grade who are participating in our pep rally by wearing blue and/or gold!

ARTS

It's been a busy weekend - and there is a lot to celebrate at today’s pep rally! Congratulations to Clayton S., and Emily Y., who won proficiency awards at the NATIONAL Star Fest Theatre Tournament for devised scenes. Congratulations also to Cynthia H., Keira G. and Ava T. who won the top category (ADVANCED) for devised scenes and who each also won proficiency awards for contrasting monologues.   (A monologue is where you are alone on stage with memorized text in front of an audience and adjudicators! A terrifying experience - and you nailed it!)

Way to go Crossley Star Fest Team!  So much pressure - and you came home with Silvers and Golds in every event you entered!  So proud of you!!

Attention Jazz Band Members! You are excused at 12 noon today to set up and play for the pep rally. Please meet on 5th floor. For more information, please read Google Classroom.

CLUBS

A big congratulations to the members of the Mock Trial team on their Silver Medal win at the OJEN Niagara Regional competition last week! Their dedication and professionalism really paid off. Sophie D. also took home the honour of 'Best Witness' out of the entire tournament. Way to go team!

SPORTS

The Crossley Crew braved the winds and waters of the Henley yesterday as they competed in the Mother's Day regatta.  The team returned home with 14 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze medals, with special medal presentations from the athlete's mothers themselves!

Next up certain crews will be travelling to Philadelphia to race the prestigious Stotesbury Cup and the entire team will be competing  at the South Niagara Invitational Regatta in Welland. A great day for the blue and gold!

Track and Field athletes are reminded of their Zone Meet tomorrow at Centennial.  Make sure you are there by 7:30.  Please check the updated entries list and schedule in the gym foyer.  The schedule has changed from last week.
