DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE
Lohri-A traditional winter Punjabi folk festival, celebrated primarily by Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims from the Punjab region to mark the harvest season in the Northern part of the Indian subcontinent, on January 13 of every year. (Hinduism/Sikhism)
Maghi-Maghi is the occasion when Sikhs commemorate the sacrifice of the forty Sikhs, who fought for Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Maghi means primarily the festival at Muktsar, a district town of the Punjab, in commemoration of the heroic fight of the Chali Mukte, literally, the Forty Liberated Ones, who laid down their lives warding off an attack by an imperial army marching in pursuit of Guru Gobind Singh. Rowing:
Consistency and communication are the cornerstones to Crossley champions. In the spirit of consistency, practices continue for all Crossley rowers this week. Novices are reminded that Tuesday and Thursday are after school practices. The first novice competition is Feb 14th and the first indoor rowing regatta for the experienced rowers is Feb 21st. The big team fundraiser and traditional event is also coming up soon- the pasta dinner on Feb 7th (athlete ticket packages coming this week). Keep up the good attendance and effort. Go blue and gold!
