**If you have a grade 12 class, please remind them again, that it is extremely important that if they have applied to university they MUST check the accuracy of the data uploaded to the university application site.  Five students have reported a missing credit.  The commonality is that the student changed a section of a course- ie SBI4U-03 to SBI4U-04.  The IT department and OUAC are aware and attempting to diagnose the issue but in the meantime, students must email janet.cripps@dsbn.org if they notice an error.  The biggest round of offers will be made on these marks.

DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

Lunar New Year-Lunar New Year, Chinese Chunjie, Vietnamese Tet, Korean Solnal, Tibetan Losar, and also called Spring Festival, is celebrated in China and other Asian countries (Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Mongolia to name a few) that begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon of the lunar calendar, 15 days later. Mardi Gras-In French, Mardi Gras translates to Fat Tuesday and is officially the day before Ash Wednesday (a Catholic Holiday). This day is also commonly referred to as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day and is celebrated most notably in New Orleans.

Hey Cyclones! This week is Kindness Week and to celebrate Ms. Di Santo’s period 3 class has created different school-wide activities.  To start the week off we are playing Kindness BINGO! Simply fill out one row to get some candy. Aim for the whole card to win a free lunch coupon at Eddie Lou’s Bistro. There are limited coupons available. Not into the digital version? Go to rm 306 to get a hard copy of the Bingo Sheet! Details and rules on the posters around the school and E.L. Crossley official instagram. Look out for a nice surprise to brighten your day on the lockers during break. Make sure you spread kindness around the school throughout your day! #spreadthekindness. Also, stop by the front foyer tomorrow from 9:30 to 1:40 to participate in a simple activity that will help you see the bigger picture. Prizes will be awarded! See everyone there.

In addition to the activities planned by Ms. Di Santo’s class, Student Council has prepared a spirit week! Today is Red and Pink day - can period 1 teachers please go to the email sent this morning to record the number of students by grade who are wearing Red and/or pink. Numbers are tallied for our Crossley Cup Competition. See our bulletin board in the main hallway for updated numbers! A reminder to wear your grade colours for points tomorrow - grade 9’s wear yellow, grade 10’s wear red, grade 11’s wear green and grade 12’s wear blue. See the whiteboard in the cafeteria or follow us on elc student council on insta to keep up to date on spirit weeks!

The Muslim Student Association has been planning a community Iftar and we’d love for you Cyclones to attend! This is a potluck, so bring a dish for others to enjoy! Show up for food and games. Everyone is welcome regardless of faith. The Iftar Night is scheduled for February 26th starting at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria. The sign up link can be found in the January 30th newsletter and also via the QR code on the posters around the school!

In two days, students who wish to have a timetable at Crossley for next school year must finalize their course selections.  In addition to hitting the submit button, students are to bring in a signed paper copy to Guidance that both parents and students have signed.

Chess Club will meet today at lunch in Mrs Bhan’s room 313. If you are attending the tournament Thursday YOU MUST attend the meeting. Thank you!

What does a Queen, a King, and a slice have to do with each other?? On Friday the chess club will be selling Pizza in the caf at lunch!

The Health Science Society meets today at lunch in Room 405! We will be studying for the upcoming Brain Bee competition! See you there Cyclones!

Reminder to the Sr. Boys Basketball team that our playoff game against Westlane tonight is at 3:00 pm. Please let Mr. Belding know if you need a ride.

Reminder to the Varsity Boys Hockey team that you are excused at the end of period 3 for your last regular season game against St. Jean de Brebeuf, in Pelham.

A reminder to the Intramural Hockey League that there are no games this week.

Congratulations to the novice rowers that participated on the weekend at the Denis Morris Novice Sprints. All novices put in a true blue and gold effort and all had personal bests. Well done! A silver medal was won by Rogue V. and Lena F., a bronze medal by Allison K. and a medal of honour by all.

Regular practices continue this week for ALL rowers as we prepare for two upcoming indoor rowing competitions. Consistency and communication are the cornerstones to Crossley Champions. Go blue and gold!
