DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE

Africa Day-Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world. 

International Missing Children’s Day-To remember missing children and spread the word about child abduction. All around the country, various organizations organize events to spread the word about the safety of children. The day serves as a reminder to strengthen our efforts to try to reunite the children who are missing with their families and honor all those who are working for the cause. 

TODAY'S NEWS

The morning song from Friday was nominated by Mrs. Varga! It’s time to complete the google form for your guess on which staff member nominated the song that was played before the bell this morning! The link to the google form has been emailed to staff. Keep your guesses coming Crossley because the class with the most correct guesses this week will win a pizza party lunch to celebrate our final week of teacher nominated music!!

Congratulations to Ms. Amadio’s period 1 class for making the most correct guesses on which staff members nominated the songs played before the bell each day last week! No one correctly guessed the song nominated by Mr. Ball. A member of Students Council will stop by your class this morning. Ms. Amadio will arrange the prize!

Attention grads. Starting Tuesday, May 26th we will be doing table sign ups for prom in the foyer at lunch. Please come sign up for a table or you will be placed at a table. If you have any food allergies please write your allergy beside your name on the table seating chart.

Pride Prom is coming up very soon. Pride Prom is a safe space for anyone who identifies as LGBTQ, and is organized by Quest. Students from any high school in Niagara can attend. If you have thought about attending, and you would like more information, come speak with our Social Worker Carleen in Student Services. 

CLUBS

Hey Cyclones! Have you spotted the jars in your 2nd period classes? That’s for Change for Change! Fill your class jar with loonies and toonies to earn points, and sabotage other classes by dropping in coins under $1. The fundraiser runs until next Friday, and all proceeds go to the Rankin Cancer Run!

SPORTS

Attention Senior Boys soccer players. Please go to room 301 at the beginning of lunch today for a brief meeting ahead of tomorrow’s zone final game against Westlane.

The Girls Slo-Pitch year end party has been changed to this Friday at lunch. The team will be meeting in the back of Student Services on Friday. 

All athletes who are attending the OFSAA South Region Track meet this week need to see Mr. Lew today for important forms.  These need to be returned tomorrow at the latest in order to compete.

All track athletes who have finished competing for the season are reminded that they need to return their singlets and spikes otherwise they will be charged a replacement fee.
