TODAY’S NEWS

SPORTS

Once again a big shout out to all Crossley rowers who had an outstanding performance at the recent Canadian Secondary School National Rowing Championships at Henley Island. 22 finals out of 40 events. 18 medals- 10 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. And the return of the men's and women's overall team banners to our very own blue and gold rowers. Top Canadian high school rowing program. We could name all of the medal winners but they and their teammates and Canadian rowing scene know who they are. And all we need to know is they- all 67 members of the team- earned medals this weekend. Medals of honour because even if they weren’t on the podium they pushed each other every day in every way as each and every rower earned their seat in a boat. EARNtitlement not entitlement. The coaches, most of whom are Crossley rowing alumni, are so very proud of these fine young student-athletes who represent the best in all of us on a national stage. They have made blue and gold a badge of honour.

It takes a village to raise a winner. On a personal note,  I want to thank this entire village, and indeed - athletes and their families, staff and students, and the community at large that have supported this team on and off the water. ELC- embrace life’s challenges. This team and program has embraced all of the challenges with the values that align with those of the community we live in and represent. Hard work, dedication and determination, and a deep desire to be the best we can be. You can buy a house, but you can’t buy a home. Thirty three beloved and blessed years to play a privileged part in this Crossley home. THANK YOU! Cyclone on. Once a blue and gold, always a blue and gold. Go blue and gold!
